Belma originated as a happy accident at Puterbaugh Farms in the Yakima Valley, where it was discovered growing wild up the side of their picking facility. Belma is known for its strawberry, melon, and citrus aromas, which are most expressive when the hop is used in the whirlpool and dry hop. It is a medium-intensity hop that can hold its own in lighter styles but needs support in recipes desiring a more potent aroma.
