Though grown in many countries, German Northern Brewer imparts more “noble” hop character than the pungent flavors found in its other iterations. Typically used as a bittering hop, Northern Brewer can contribute an herbal spice with underlying notes of pine, mint, and wild fruits when added late in the boil. Northern Brewer is often found in beer styles without a strong American hop component, such as Belgian ales, Continental lagers, and English bitters.
