Fuggle’s origins date back to the mid-1800s, with the hop first released to the public in 1875 following years of cultivation. Like East Kent Goldings, Fuggles hail from Kent, and these two hops are the most prominent hops to come out of the UK. Unlike their neighbors, Fuggles much prefer wet, cold, clay-ish soil, which contributes greatly to their flavor. Their minty, floral, and earthy tones make Fuggles ideal for darker UK beers and English milds. Fuggles make a nice complement to EKG in a traditional English pale.
